How many: 4 (subject to change based on available budget)
Location: To be based out of Butare, Rwanda
For: Drakkar’s All Children Reading Rwanda (ACRR) Project
Work Hours: 24 Hours/Week

Duration: 7 months (Mid-March through Mid/Late-September)

Project Description:
The ACRR project is a primary school based project in the Southern province that is in cooperation with USAID and MINEDUC .  The primary objective of the project is to improve the reading comprehension levels of P1-P4 students.  This will be done by providing the classrooms numerous storybooks and by improving teaching methods.
 
Job Description:
The data enumerators are integral towards ensuring that the ACRR project is on the track towards success.  Each enumerator will be based out of Butare in the Huye District of the Southern Province.  His/her job is to travel to primary schools spread across the Nyamagabe, Ruhango, and Gisagara districts 2-3 days a week to gather data.  Data collection duties include in-class observation of teaching methods and individual interviews with P1-P4 students.  The enumerator will be trained by and report to the Drakkar Foundation Program Manager.  Enumerators will appropriately conduct their assigned data collection duties and report the completed forms.
 
Qualifications:
Required:
Experience in education
Ability to read and write in English and Kinyarwanda
Able to use a map and familiar with the Southern Province
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Able to interact and work with children
Able to work in a team
Willingness to work/travel in rural areas
 
Desired:
Motorcycle driving license
Experience in teaching children
Knowledge of interactive teaching methods a plus
Diploma in Education or higher a plus
Data collection experience
 
Working Conditions:
These positions are field-based with lots of travel on motorcycles.  Typically job day includes travel from Butare to several primary schools.
 
Salary:
Competitive monthly Salary + Monthly cell phone stipend + Per diem lunch stipend
All travel costs covered
All material costs covered
