Drakkar participated in the launch of the kigali public library

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Friday 5th, October, 2012 was the official opening of the Kigali Public Library which was officially opened by the first lady of Rwanda Janet KAGAME. A reading week was organized, with the participation of authors, publishers, writers and books shops who took that opportunity to exhibit their products. The KPL is the first public library to open in the great lakes region, and Rwanda, a country with low reading and writing culture, welcomed the Rotary initiative and is proud to host it.

Many guests visited our stand and among them top officials, we had the privilege to receive the First Lady. Others visitors were students, lecturers, professionals and writers.  We had an opportunity to show our higher standards education books, highlighting small readers dedicated to promotion of reading culture from young scholars; and the First Lady was impressed by the quality of World class education materials introduced to Rwanda by Pearson.
We believe that, the presence of the KPL will have an impact in Kigali citizens, and we expect the boost of reading culture that will also bring a new era in books-related businesses.
